Frequent automatic transmission fluid check is recommended. Here are the steps to check it. First park the car, and let the engine idle. Open the hood, and pull the transmission dipstick. If you are not sure where the transmission dipstick is, refer to the user manual. Wipe it off with a clean cloth and then insert into back all the way back to the original position. Now pull the dipstick again and check the fluid level. If the engine is cold, it should be within COLD mark and if the car is warmed up, the level should be at the upper end of the HOT mark. Also check the fluid condition. If it is too dark and dirty, then the transmission has issue, let your mechanical take a look. The new fluid comes red. Over the time, it will become brown. If it iw brown, check your user manual. Maybe it is the time to change the transmission fluid. It is recommended to change transmission fluid every 30,000 or 50,000 miles.
